In 1967, Jean GALLET, then director of the Lycée Technique d'Etat and at the origin of the Rue de France site, took over the management of the first IUT, IUT B, which started with a Mechanical Engineering department within the Lycée d'Etat to replace the Higher Technician sections.

When Jean GALLET retired in 1981, the management was taken over by Pierre MICHEL, then professor of metallurgy.

In 1987, Jacques PIVOT, professor of electricity, succeeded him after his retirement.

Gilbert MAREST took over in 1997 until 2004.

In 2004, Roger LAMARTINE took over the management of the institution until 2010, a period which saw the merger of IUT A and B.

In 2010, Christian COULET took over the management of the IUT which became IUT Lyon 1

He gave way in 2012 to Christophe VITON who is in office until 2022

Our goals

Bringing together former students from the three IUT Lyon1 sites: La Doua, Gratte-Ciel and Bourg en Bresse, the AlumnIUT-Lyon1 has the following main objectives:

- To facilitate intergenerational exchanges between students, working people and retirees in order to share everyone's experiences and knowledge and to do this, to network alumni in professional activity with students currently in school or continuing their studies

- To allow alumni to meet classmates and keep in touch with them.

- To make the Lauzet gîte (05 Hautes-Alpes), which we have owned since 1960, available to students through the BDEs and alumni associations of the departments for the organization of ski weekends, hiking or for event communication at a preferential rate.
